How does Chinese intonation practice work?
Listen to a reference sentence at normal or slow speed while watching its pitch curve — the rise and fall of the voice as it's graphed over time. Record yourself saying the same sentence, and your recorded pitch curve is overlaid on the reference so you can compare them directly.
How is my pronunciation scored?
You get a 0–100 match score based on how closely your recorded pitch movement follows the reference curve's shape. It measures the melody and rhythm of your speech, not word accuracy, so it's specifically for practicing intonation rather than pronunciation of individual sounds.
Does it save my best scores?
Yes — your best score and number of attempts for each sentence are remembered on this device, so you can track improvement on specific sentences across multiple practice sessions.
Do I need a microphone?
Yes, recording your own voice for comparison requires microphone access, which your browser will prompt you to allow. You can still listen to reference sentences without one, but comparison and scoring need a recording.
